Katarina is a PhD student at the Department of Genetics, Microbiology and Toxicology at Stockholm University. In her research, she examines the function of lactic acid bacteria in the genital tract by studying their interaction with the pathogenic bacteria that causes gonorrhea. She also examines how lactic acid bacteria can affect cell cycles. Her research is aimed at gaining a better understanding of the complex interaction between normal flora and pathogenic bacteria, which in turn can lead to more effective treatment methods for bacteria-infection diseases.
